OUR MAILING LISTS: GLOBAL

We have two global mailing lists:

  1. mf-announce[at]googlegroups dot com [subscribe / unsubscribe]
    • This list is only for official announcements
    • Average of one or two messages per month
    • Only the MF Steering Committee can post
  2. mf-kopitiam[at]googlegroups dot com [subscribe / unsubscribe]
    • This list is where most if not all of our online discussions take place.
    • This list is primarily for all discussion and inquiries about any topic of general interest to MF membership
    • This list can also be used for such unofficial announcements as: non-MF events of interest to MF membership, social events etc.
    • All members subscribed to this list can post
    • If you wish to send medium to large attachments, we would prefer that you post these on your own webspace and send a link in your e-mail
    • Postings to this list must be in the spirit of charity and a desire for true dialogue. "Flaming" or rude postings aimed at others may be grounds for removal from the list

General Guidelines for the Lists

The Chatham House Rule (see below) applies to all discussions/posts on our lists, just at it does to all MF discussions and meetings unless otherswise and explicitly stated. If you wish to quote someone (this includes forwarding an e-mail they wrote), please ask for their permission before doing so.

When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed; nor may it be mentioned that the information was received at a meeting of the Forum.

Anonymous posting is not allowed. First-time/new posters are strongly encouraged to introduce themselves to the group.

Please do not attempt to communicate with only one person or even a small number of people through these lists. We want to minimize the amount of unnecessary email in everyone's mailboxes.

As a matter of e-mail etiquette, please only quote bits of e-mails that you are directly responding to, not whole e-mails or strings of e-mails, especially if they are very large.

    • This is an announcements only list with an emphasis on London-specific events including non-MF events of possible interest
    • All official MF London events will appear on mf-announce as well
    • To subscribe, send e-mail to info at malaysiaforum dot org mentioning this list
  2. Paris: mf-paris-announce@googlegroups.com
    • This is an announcements only list with an emphasis on Paris-specific events including non-MF events of possible interest
    • All official MF Paris events will appear on mf-announce as well
    • To subscribe, send e-mail to info at malaysiaforum dot org mentioning this list
  3. Northern California: mfnorcal@googlegroups.com
    • This is an announcements only list with an emphasis on San Francisco Bay Area-specific events including non-MF events of possible interest
    • All official MF NorCal events will appear on mf-announce as well
    • To subscribe, send e-mail to info at malaysiaforum dot org mentioning this list

The official e-mail address to reach us is info at malaysiaforum dot org. But if you're on the mailing list, try buzzing mf-kopitiam. There will be more people lending a hand to you there :)
